Ellen began her career with Delaware CarePlan in 2002 – when the organization was still in its infancy – for what was supposed to be a temporary position. Twenty years later, it seems it was not so temporary!
Before joining the organization, Ellen was employed in the corporate sector for 21 years with The DuPont Company/DuPont Pharmaceuticals. Her rewarding career in the much-loved pharmaceuticals business – ask anyone who worked there how much they loved "growing up" in such a special company! – allowed for tremendous growth opportunities, as she held positions in many areas, including public affairs as a communications specialist, speechwriter, editor, and event planner; in sales as a senior cardiovascular sales specialist; in administration as assistant to the CEO; even enjoying an experience-gathering internship in marketing.
Now, with her 20-year turn in the nonprofit world, Ellen finds her not-so-temporary home in a role that is both rewarding and an honor, as she assists families with the crucial and often overwhelming task of planning for their loved ones’ futures.
In order to live out our mission, Delaware CarePlan is selectively and strategically small -- in staff and operating budget. As an organization dedicated to assisting families with long-term care planning, even those of modest means, we rely on donations to keep fees stable and below the industry standards.
